| Shonen, literal translation, boy, are a category of manga aimed at a male audience, generally from 6 to 18 years. Shonen focus mainly on action, and the plot unfolds in a typical series of tests in which the protagonists are constantly put to the test. Each series is then formed by a main objective (eg defeat an enemy considered unbeatable), which is achieved only at the conclusion of the story. Before reaching the final lens, however, the plot through a series of challenges intermediate (minor defeat opponents), they unlock the way to the final goal and allow the player to prepare for the decisive battle, improving their skills. The typical settings are: dedicated or a universe with magical elements and / or technologies with science fiction, or even one set in the world of sport in Japan. In this context, there is little space on the theme of love. However, compensates for the lack of romantic plots with the presence of female characters deliberately very hot. The manga and anime created for older readers (ages 18 and older) are called seinen.
